My mom and her husband retired and within a year were starting to feel a bit adrift. They decided to help my brother’s family by taking care of their three children during the day while he and his wife worked. Why not dedicate themselves to grandparent daycare? Sure, they had to sell their fabulous Redondo Beach, California home and move across the country to be near my brother’s family, but it would be worth it.

So, they started a new life in Virginia. They found a home they liked on the kid’s bus rout so that they could meet the older kids at the bus stop after school. Being church-goers, they made themselves at home in a new local church where they began making new friends. The new church brought new opportunities and new experiences that their old church didn’t offer. Since my mom is bilingual, they got involved in the Amigos branch of the church, the foreign members who don’t speak English. She supported the Amigos pastor, becoming her right-hand woman, and she and her husband consistently volunteered to set up chairs, to organize pancake breakfasts and even to teach English once a week to Amigos who wanted to learn English.

My parents went from adrift to barely afloat because their schedules filled, their passion inspired them to be of service and their newfound purpose ignited their mission to make a difference in their grandchildren’s lives, their children’s and their Amigos.

They were retired and getting more and more tired! But they were happy and they had a full tribe, a full community around them.

Things Never Stay The Same Though…

When their eldest granddaughter was starting middle school, my brother and his wife decided to move to another city where they felt their children would receive the best education available. This meant that my parents now had to commute a half hour each way to be with the grandchildren or they had to move, again! They had only lived in their new home for a couple years, so selling their home had to come at a financial loss, the market just wasn’t giving them what they had paid.

They looked for a new home close to my brother’s again, just like they had done before. A little angry, but truly dedicated, they found a home close-by again. Of course, this home was in a nicer neighborhood with higher-rated schools, which means that it cost them more money still…

Their passion clearly cost them tens of thousands between the moves, the selling and buying of homes. That’s pretty crazy for a retired couple on a fixed income, don’t you think?

Passion Creates Meaning & Brings True Riches To Your Life

Personal power has a lot to do with choosing to do what you need to do even when circumstances don’t permit. A lot of people want to do what they love for a living, but circumstances often don’t allow this. You want to act, but no Hollywood isn’t calling; you want to start your own bakery, but no one is asking you for cupcakes; or you want to fill your days with a warm, glowing sunshine-feeling, but your family lives on the other side of the country or city and you are on a fixed income.

Take some personal power in hand! Do what you love whether it is your full-time gig or something you do when you can. Doing what you love and feeding your passion will feed you the sweetest deserts in life.

While we won’t all be famous or semi-famous rock stars or sought out for our specialty baked goods, you have the power to bring passion to your life. You have the ability to make today ‘the best day ever!’ so that you’ll wake up before your alarm goes off and jump start the rays in your day. You can attract more and more of the music, the pastries or the people you want in your life, you just have to start now, even if it’s small.

On A Personal Passionate-Note:
I’m crazy-passionate too. I am all about my spirituality and being a personal and spiritual teacher; I’m also passionate about parrots. I love my flock! Their colors, their intelligence, their personalities – but, maybe not their bite!

Spirituality is like a key to the universe to me, it unlocks the mysteries of life, of my life. I have raised my awareness and the awareness of my clients so that I and they know what makes me tick and how to work with life to raise my frequency and create the life of my dreams. It’s like having a crystal ball to look into that shows me what’s up and how to get it to flow in the direction I prefer. It requires attention, dedication and intent, and it’s totally worth it. Waving a metaphorical magic wand that helps my clients shift themselves, their lives and their understanding… I love experiencing those miraculous moments!

I’ve spent a small fortune acquiring my flock… eek! Spookier than the goblins haunting Halloween! And, crazier still, I spend a lot of time chopping veggies for them and cleaning up after these messy guys. But, I’m happy! There’s nothing better than watching the babies that are born into the flock! Feeding them is indescribable and seeing them learn to recognize me is a blessing.
