Ok I’ve discovered a new form of punishment. It’s called homework.
I thought it was bad when I was a kid (and it was torture), but it may be more torturous when you’re a parent. Hours and hours on a Saturday in October making a salt-dough map of Florida and labeling all sorts of items, such as key cities, regions, tourist attractions, land forms.

Really?

So, is my daughter’s fourth grade teacher not smart enough to know that you can’t write on dough? We had around 30 labels for the dough-map. We could have easily drawn a map or something, but no. Writing on dough is a skill every fourth-grader (and her rapidly-greying mother) should develop.

I hear computers are going to become obsolete. Dough, specifically salt-dough, is the way of the future. Didn’t you catch that story on the news last night? Oh, no? Huh. Don’t you watch the news?

Between Worlds

I like the term ‘between worlds. It’s liquid and juicy in the sense that it can mean you when you sleep and are just waking up and you’re in between slumber and waking; it can be you in an airplane, going not only between countries (or even cities) with such vastly different customs and ways of perceiving life that it feels like you’re going to another planet. Between worlds can also be the place between the world you are living in now and the one that you are either losing or gaining so that your reality is exactly the same, but everything is completely different because the world looks different as you are losing or gaining the love of your life or your dream job, for example.

I often find myself feeling like I’m between worlds, which has a lot to do with my ability to sense energy. Unlike a parlor trick, which I think people expect sensing energy to be like, I don’t wave my hand with a deck of cards and magically see things on demand when asked. Actually, the less people expect of me the more I tend to be able to see (energy-performance anxiety? Joking).

I had a friend who asked what I thought about a potential business deal that was before her. It was selling the inventory of her jewelry in exchange for barter (you know, not money, but ethereal money.) I of all people know how significant and important something ethereal can be, because that’s another way of saying energetic, but in this case, it didn’t sound good. (‘Barter’ needs to sound an alarm so that you ask yourself, is this ‘ethereal’ as in snake-oil money or true potential/energy that will equate to money?) Still, I don’t pull a card from my deck and say ‘All signs point to yes’ because that’s what magic 8 balls are for. You could always keep one on hand if you want a split-second answer.

If you want to know about you and your energy and about a choice that your making, that’s totally different and it requires some depth. Now, don’t get me wrong because sometimes I do see energy on the fly. Today at Starbucks (my home away from home- I had to change to a new location because the workers and some patrons all knew my name! A little privacy so I can write or work, please!) I sat talking with my husband. I’m gazing, listening to him when I see a man in my line of sight who is wearing a flashy, gold watch. His skin is dark which contrasts well with the watch, but that’s noy what really caught my eye. I pointed it out to my husband (who also taps into energy) and I told him I could tell that this watch wasn’t any ‘ol watch to the man, it was special. Ah, yes, says K, it symbolizes him ‘making it’ or being successful. I tell him I’d love to go up to the man and compliment his watch and K says, if you do, he’ll light up. Sure enough. The compliment changed his demeanor and made his day. That was fun.

Men like their watches, what a watch represents or they like who it came from. I’ve seen ‘lit up’ watches before. The watch stands out, as though it has a spot light on it. Last week I also saw this in a woman’s wedding rock. She had a beautiful stone and I should have complimented her on it, but I didn’t realize until later (which often happens to me) that the ring and a glow, an energy to it. That was part of why it was a rock. There is some compensation going on there… the marriage isn’t filled with as much love and tenderness as you might expect from a man who bought his wife a rock (big, large diamond) instead of a ‘lil ‘ol diamond.

The GHG

The glow I’m speaking of (relative to the watch or the ring) is a cool and interesting thing. I call it the Goldie Hawn Glow, or GHG – but I might just start to call it ‘The Glow’.

We were once coming home from having lead a spiritual retreat down in the Mexican Caribbean and at the airport, where there were hundreds of people in line to check in to their airline, one person stood out, as though a spotlight were on her. Goldie Hawn has a true feminine energy meaning that her energy flows to her and she draws you in, she get’s your attention. I can’t imagine what she must have been like when she was acting more, I’m sure it would have been an amazing lesson in energy.

Clearly, she likes herself. You may think that I mean this in a negative way, that I’m saying she’s full of herself (and I am) but you may not recognize the huge positive that this is. You should all be full of yourselves, your authentic selves that is. I can’t speak to whether or not she’s authentic (because I’ve never looked at my 8 ball to find out) but the point is that she appreciates herself in such a way that the world does (which was probably more apparent when she was acting).

So, yes, people can have the GHG (The Glow) or their things can.

Sometimes when I’m making videos (for my YouTube channel) I glow, sometimes I don’t. You have to be full of yourself and you have to like and appreciate you as much as possible.

Which brings me back to the torture. How are my daughter and I supposed to be filled with ourselves, and how are we supposed to like and enjoy ourselves when we are trying to write in salt-dough? (Flogging yourself is so paseé – working in salt dough offers physical and emotional torture!)

Why are trying to shape the state of Florida in dough? That teacher, I’m not a fan. The educational system is pushing kids in ridiculous ways academically, and now this?

Oh, maybe this is a part of the rigorous academic programs, since computers are becoming obsolete. Obsolete, I tell you. Clearly my daughter and I need to become proficient at dough and loving ourselves through the whole, sticky process because it’s the wave of the future… and you always want what’s best for your kids. Am I supposed to want her to endure rigorous academics or salt dough torture?

The Teacher’s Teachable Moment

You won’t find any directions or instructions to use salt-dough on my blog. Instead, I’ll tell you about my Kronicles, my experiences, and I’ll apply them to life (because, in my book, an 8 ball or the ability to see energy are pointless if they don’t help you in life).

It became so common and cliché to say ‘everything is energy first’. This was fantastic because people started to see life differently as they travel between a world in which only what they could see was ‘real’ and the world that is real, the world of energy (which is more ‘real’ that things you can touch because energy is never lost or destroyed, so the energy you are must live on past your life, outliving anything you can touch). On the other hand, the cliché ‘everything is energy first’ is awful because it becomes meaningless when people parrot it and have no clue what it means.

We all put a GHG on things in our lives: the paper that the love of your life first gave you; your first crappy-car that you love because you love cars and it was your first. The ring that he proposed with, the bunny that someone gifted me that was the exact same size as my daughter at birth (yeap, I have that white, sweet bunny- it’s special, so no touching!).

We all impart energies upon things, people, ideas and so on in our lives. Sometimes that energy can aid us, sometimes it can be to our detriment. So just think what would happen if you imbued beneficial energies on the worst or hardest parts of your life. Couldn’t they shift, expand and blossom? Couldn’t you put an auspicious GHG upon the things you’d like to enjoy in your life? Couldn’t you glow yourself and allow yourself to become all you wish to be?
Thing is, you don’t need to be able to see or tap into energy to bring a little magic into yourself and your life.
